Pastor Ed Hiers
Born and raised in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Ed moved to New Hampshire with his wife Barbara after graduating from college in 1973. He became a life insurance salesman under the mentorship of a man who would ultimately introduce him to something far more important than the financial industry. On a warm fall day in September of 1975, Ed gave his life to the Lord, and God started him down a journey that would ultimately impact hundreds of lives in the southern New England area.
Having grown up in a strict Catholic home, Ed was no stranger to religion. However, his new-found faith and enthusiasm in the Lord drove him to step out in ways he had never imagined. In November of 1975, along with his mentor Jack Hartman, they started a Bible study in his office on Webster Street in Manchester. This Bible study steadily grew until they had evolved from the office, to a local school, to ultimately building their own building.
Ed provided vision and hands-on leadership in one of the largest interdenominational ministries in New Hampshire, and continued to spread God’s love and heart for New England throughout the area. He has been blessed to sit on many boards of non-profit Christian agencies, minister in multiple countries on mission’s trips, and continues to serve the local New England community.
Along with the growth of the church, Ed’s business grew just as quickly. Northeast Planning Associates became one of the largest financial planning firms in New England under Ed’s leadership as President, with over 2,500 corporate clients and over 12,000 individual clients across 31 offices in 6 states. A frequent speaker addressing financial and management topics, Ed holds the unique position of being active in both church and business circles, allowing him to relate to people of many different backgrounds in various life situations. He currently holds the CEO position at NPA, providing leadership oversight and continued vision for the future of the business.
Ed’s teaching is practical, to-the-point and always relevant. He focuses on the truth and power of God’s Word and directions in the Bible, and offers clear illustrations on how those principles can be applied to everyday life. To his church and business and community, Ed’s life is marked by innovative leadership, integrity and grace.
Ed and his wife Barbara have been married for over 40 years, and have 4 adult children and 8 grandchildren. They enjoy getting together as a big and loud family, spending time with their grandchildren, and traveling on adventures together.
